Lidl Supermarket, York

Project: Car Park surfacing at a multi-million pound development

Duration: 9 days

Key works: Stoning up, Surfacing and line markings

Our client required a full surfacing program for this new multi-million-pound development in a busy area of York. The project was to carry out surfacing works for the parking facility at a brand new Lidl supermarket on James street.

Chosen as the main subcontractor for the surfacing works, our prime focus was to develop a good relationship with our client and to work alongside the various other contractors also operating on this site, creating minimal disruption to their busy work schedules. The scope of our work included the laying of 1454 tonnes of base and binder, with a further 502 tonnes of 10mm steel slag SMA surface course. The work was completed over a 9 shift period in which we also laid an additional 10 tonnes of 6mm limestone surface course on the new footpaths adjoining the car park. The site was finally finished with thermoplastic lining creating available space for 138 vehicles which included disabled, EV and family parking bays..
