Project Overview: We successfully delivered a comprehensive surfacing scheme at Kingston Retail Park in Hull, achieving high-quality results while ensuring the site remained fully operational throughout the works.

The Challenge: The retail park is a busy, high-traffic environment, requiring careful planning and coordination to minimise disruption to businesses, tenants, and customers. The key challenge was to safely complete extensive resurfacing works while maintaining day-to-day operations across the site.

Our Approach: To meet these requirements, the project was delivered in a series of carefully planned phases:

Day Works:
Initial phases were undertaken during daytime hours, with each work area securely segregated and managed under full traffic control. This ensured the retail park continued to operate safely and efficiently.

Night Works:
Later phases were completed during night shifts due to their location and complexity. This approach minimised disruption and allowed works to be completed safely and efficiently where daytime operations were not practical.

Scope of Works: The project included a range of surfacing and reinstatement activities:

• Planing Works: Removal of the existing surface to prepare for resurfacing.

• Excavation & Reinstatement: Localised areas of failed block paving were excavated and reconstructed in line with project requirements to ensure long-term performance.

• Surfacing Works: Installation of new asphalt surfacing across multiple phases, designed to      provide a durable, high-quality finish suitable for a heavily trafficked retail environment.

• Line Marking: Application of new road markings to enhance safety, organisation, and overall site appearance.

The Result: The project was completed on programme with minimal disruption to tenants and visitors. The phased delivery and flexible working arrangements ensured:

• Continuous operation of the retail park.

• Safe and well-managed working conditions.

• A durable, high-quality finished surface.

• Improved site usability and visual appearance.
