We at Derek Lewis Ltd are constantly developing our Environmental credentials and strive to take all our own and the responsibilities of our customers’ seriously whilst operating as ‘green’ as we can in our business undertakings. We do this by:
- Using local suppliers as much as possible to reduce the amount of time vehicles operated on our behalf are on the road.
- Regularly maintaining, upgrading and replacing our plant and equipment to ensure it is working as effectively as possible at all times and minimising any pollution it may create.
- Minimising the amount of waste generated by the business through efficient use of materials and effective estimating and planning.
- Disposing of all of our waste in a responsible manner, ensuring as much as possible is recycled or re-used.
- Utilising materials with recycled content wherever practicable.
- Ensuring our premises and work sites are not causing pollution through ground or watercourse contamination.
- Undertaking work in populated areas at suitable times of the day to reduce noise pollution and unacceptable levels of disturbance.
- Working with our suppliers to use the most suitable materials for our activities and keeping up to date with environmental advances and developments relevant to us.
During 2010 one of our business objectives will be to further develop our Environmental understanding and incorporate additional Environmental considerations into our Health & Safety Management System.
