Description

Derek Lewis were proud to take ownership of the latest, high specification Volvo ABG6870 wheeled paver. It was in fact the first model to be delivered into Great Britain and looked splendid in the new Volvo livery. It replaced a previous machine which has served the company well for the past ten years.

Director Mr Lewis commented ” The machine has a very impressive specification. My road crews enjoy operating it and it is highly manoeuvrable. In addition we receive first class back up and support from the team at Volvo”.

Ten years is a long time as technology moves on and the new replacement model has a significant number of improvements. Seeing the paver demonstrated with it’s market leading features more than assured Mr Lewis he was investing in the right machine for his fleet. The ABG6870 is the first of it’s kind to use the 5 x 5 hydrostatic drive system.

Powered with a Tier III 122kw engine, operators can vary the power output to suit conditions by use of the “Smart Power” settings. The ABG6870 is both fuel and noise efficient with the 6 x 6 “Smart Drive” technologies offering unparalleled traction which is automatically adjusted even on the most difficult bases according to the weight of material in the 12 tonne hopper and the ground condition at the time.

The “Active Steering” feature makes the ABG6870 highly manoeuvrable with an inside turning radius of only 2.5 metres. This enables the paver to overcome obstacles first time unlike competitive models. Paving at night is facilitated by the backlit control buttons on the EPM control panel together with the optional fitted Xenon Lighting.

The paver is very comfortable for the operator who is afforded a full view of all aspects of the operation. The machine is also fitted with a flexible all weather roof which can be lowered for transport along with the exhaust pipe.

All in all a superb Road Surfacing machine and a great addition to our fleet.
